Buried Treasure

From where does inspiration and motivation come? It is one of those things that you can not force yourself to have. No matter how hard you try sometimes its just not there. Especially if you are an artist in any kind of way if you force inspiration your work will not have the quality it was meant to have. How can you walk the fine line between pushing yourself to do good work and forcing inspiration?

When you do have a talent and you have spent more energy trying to conceal it than into the work you could have been doing then its time you really let God in so He can lead you through practicing your virtue of talent. Your talent might not be of grandeur attention but it might be that tiny missing piece of the puzzle God wants for His kingdom to flourish. As I write this I am very convicted of my own talents that I have tried to conceal from God and the world (yes, I too have talents). Realizing that more and more makes me so nervous because I know its gonna be a wild ride when God gets a hold of your talent. So I challenge you all five followers of this little blog to think about your talent and how you can exercise them more or rather how God can exercise them through you. Keep your eyes open for inspiration you never know where it might come from.

Here is a picture that inspires me... Yahweh-Shalom!

Getting back on track...

Day 2 of taking personal prayer time again was not so bad. It definitely does not feel the same way it used to. I have not done personal prayer time since....well let's just say its been awhile. I am making my way through the book of Psalms and praying one verse a day. Today was Psalm 1:2, i would tell you what it says but that would defeat the purpose of you looking it up yourself!

I have also been picking pictures to put in frames to decorate our place. We are trying to make our place feel more like a home and pictures of loved ones help a lot. This picture made it into a frame, oh how i miss my sistas! I also started painting a graffiti piece that Jack drew on canvas and it feels so good to start painting again. Yahweh-Shalom.

What the Heck?!

Well this blog is a bit of a rant. I am deeply saddened by two things regarding the entertainment industry this week.

First of all one of my favorite T.V. personalities and chefs is Rachael Ray. Well i regretfully inform the world that I will no longer watch Rachael Ray shows or buy any of her products because of a show that aired on January 5, 2010. She had a segment all about different birth control methods, which this is a free country and she is entitled to her opinion. To make matters worse she has a link up on her website to Planned Parenthood's website. That is where i draw the line and I can not support the show anymore. I write this with great sadness because I have used many a good recipe from Rachael Ray.

The second event is that i usually look up movies before i go and watch them. The site is awesome because it lets you know all of the sexuality, violence and profanity that are in a movie. I have been excited to see a new movie called Leap Year for a couple of weeks now. It is set in Ireland which I love and hope to go there someday. Well upon looking up the movie I find that they have 4 religous profanities which includes the "gd" and "gd you" phrases. I can handle "f" words and other such profanity to a point but I can't watch a movie that uses "gd", it hurts me too much. So I will not be seeing this movie.

Some might say that its just a movie or T.V and I take things too seriously but that is me and God loves me this way. Let me make it clear that i am not passing judgement on Rachael Ray nor the people in the movie Leap Year. I am simply excercising my civic right of free speech. Thanks for listening to my rant and I hope to bring better tidings next time.

Adventurers We Are...

We started 2010 off with waking up at 5am on Jan. 1st and leaving for Big Sur, CA which is about a a six hour drive north from LA but we made it a 9hr drive by stopping and taking in the splendor of the CA coastline. We had a wonderful time hanging out with each other and discovering the beauty of nature. It really makes you think how blessed we are to have a God that loves and trusts us enough to take care of His creation.
